Why The Star Trek: Enterprise Theme Song Sucks So Bad?

This is the theme song for Star Trek: Enterprise. I find it very dull. I wouldn’t ever listen to it on my own. The problem is that I’m watching the show these days and I keep wondering: Why did they choose this song? The theme version of the song “Faith of the Heart” was written by Diane Warren. It’s christian Jesus-camp-happy style not only has no place in front of a sci-fi show but it’s also kinda weird. I mean, christians believe that we are alone in the universe, don’t they? The pointy ears of the Vulcans just don’t fit into the picture.

  1. I have to disagree. I thought it was fairly good but will admit STV’s was much better. I think it is a stretch to assume the “Faith of Heart” is about Christianity but rather man’s drive to explore in spite of risk.

As for the general comments about the multiple series, I know I’m opening a can of worms here but IMO the best of the Captain’s and the best Treks were (in order):

    1. The Original Series (Considering when it was made)
    2. Voyager
    3. Enterprise
    4. New Generation
    5. DS9

    • Can of worms opened.

Enterprise is at the bottom of the list. The third series was a waste. The first two series were lame and the fourth was brilliant. T’Pol was only there because she was hot (as with Seven of Nine in VOY). Series 1 and 2 don’t need to be changed but they could have easily brought series 4 to 3 and made series 4 about the Romulan war opening for series 5. And I will never understand Shockwave pt2 (S2). Why did Hoshi lose her top. She braved her claustrophobia and evaded the Suliban and for her troubles she loses her top? Sexist writers much. Plus much of the series was a simple copy and paste – the ep with Archer on trial on Qonos and the s3 one in the Nebula (Doctor’s Orders I think).
To sum up the characters were cheesy, unrealistic and soapy (I’d admit it’s not much different to the other series but for sure they aren’t as real as Riker and Data and Worf etc).
And Voyager. It was good but it was far too much like Next Gen.I wouldn’t have minded seeing a meld of Next Gen and Ds9. And plus the there for her rack.

Ds9 was good because it did what Enterprise should have done. Explain more of the known galaxy. Not introduce people that didn’t exist in the 24th century. So what do all the species that come from Enterprise die off in the intervening 120 years.

      So after that rant.

1 TOS ( of course and pretty much groundbreaking for its time.)
      2. TNG (Memorable characters and a theme tune that will outlive humanity)
      3. Ds9 (Revolutionary in its field and with memorable characters of its own)
4 ENT (Lame from start to series 3 – the new writers in s4 should have come along earlier)
5 VOY (Pretty much TNG but will less cool and not so relate-able really forgetable characters)

  2. It is the reason the show failed. Seriously. It is one of the biggest mistakes in television history. Perhaps the worst choice of intro music in the history of television.

  3. I don’t know why. I really don’t like that it has lyrics, I much preferred the other theme songs. Especially Voyager’s theme, which was gorgeous. I don’t know who told you Christians believe we’re alone in the universe. That’s not in the Bible. I guess they chose this song because it was supposed to sound inspiring, but it really didn’t do much for me.
